Happy Frights: A Whimsical Journey for All Ages

Families, grab your costumes and candy bags because “Happy Frights” is back with a delightful twist! Wander through 14 fantastical worlds nestled within the gardens, where trick-or-treating meets larger-than-life adventures. Explore a mysterious swamp teeming with oversized wildlife, lose yourself in the Crazy Carnival’s world of clowns, or navigate a hedge maze to meet the quirky Mad Hatter. And don’t forget to boogie with hip-hop dancing aliens, marvel at giant (but not-so-deadly) plants, and enjoy live music at an even grander Dia de Muertos celebration. With eight trick-or-treat stations along the way, it’s a Halloween adventure the whole family will love!

Haunting Nights: A Thrilling After-Dark Experience

As the sun sets, “Haunting Nights” emerges from the shadows, offering a spookier, more exhilarating experience recommended for those 13 and older. Brave souls can venture into the eerie edges of Lake Rowena, where Bigfoot might just be lurking. Or, if you dare, face off with the Minotaur in the hedge maze, celebrate Dia de Muertos with a frozen margarita in hand, or try to spot a gargoyle soaring through the treetops. And watch out for a 12-foot spider that’s just waiting to send shivers down your spine! With delicious fall-inspired food and drinks available throughout the night, “Haunting Nights” is the perfect way to get your Halloween fix.

Editor’s Note: We experienced Haunting Nights last year; it had just the right amount of fun and scares.

A Magical Transformation in the Gardens

“The natural world of the Gardens is enhanced by the magical world of Happy Frights and Haunting Nights, and this event transforms the Gardens into a fantastical, living event,” says Jennifer D’hollander, Executive Director of Harry P. Leu Gardens. “This event allows us to reach new audiences and offer exciting experiences in the Gardens. We can’t wait to have more Halloween fun.”

Creative City Project Founder & Artistic Director Cole NeSmith adds, “Last year’s debut of our Halloween events was a massive hit! We’re thrilled to bring Happy Frights and Haunting Nights back to life with two brand new, unique, artful, and fun-filled Halloween experiences. Gather family and friends and get ready for more exhilarating, immersive worlds and fall-inspired encounters – now a part of everyone’s annual Halloween tradition!”
