Mills Market New Additions

Hey Orlando! Get ready to dive into a foodie paradise as Mills Market continues to blossom right in our vibrant Mills 50 district! The buzz started when ZARU, the Japanese udon gem that snagged a Michelin Bib Gourmand, opened last fall. Now, Mills Market, located at 1110 E Colonial Drive, is gearing up for more exciting additions, and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next!

Restaurateurs Jimmy and Johnny Tung are at the helm of this 10,000 square-foot food haven, and they’re about to unveil the next delicious chapter. This summer, say hello to UniGirl, a playful and casual Japanese spot specializing in freshmade onigiri, and welcome back the revamped Bánh Mì Boy, our beloved Vietnamese café and bakery.

UniGirl Arrives This Summer

UniGirl is the brainchild of ZARU’s Chef Partner William Shen, who drew inspiration from his adorable Shiba Inu, Uni. “It’s her world. We’re just living in it,” Shen quips. UniGirl will serve up onigiri, those delightful Japanese rice balls with savory fillings like ume shiso (pickled plum), tuna mayo, and the exotic Uni’s Unigiri, packed with Hokkaido sea urchin and marinated salmon roe. Alongside onigiri, expect a selection of Japanese snacks and beverages, all set in a konbini-inspired ambiance.

Banh Mi Boy Opens This Summer

Next door, Bánh Mì Boy, which shot to fame after being featured on Netflix’s “Somebody Feed Phil,” is getting a fabulous makeover. The café will introduce dine-in seating, delivery options, and a fresh menu this summer. Expect a fusion of old favorites and new twists, like the “pho” French dip, Viet-Cajun oyster po boys, and Saigon beer-battered crispy fish with chili jam. Of course, classics like the Crispy Pork Belly Bánh Mì and Vietnamese coffee are here to stay, and they’re adding a Breakfast Bánh Mì to the mix, making it a must-visit spot all day long.

A Bright Future For Mills Market

The Tungs’ vision for Mills Market is inspired by their travels through Asia, bringing unique alleyway experiences to Orlando. While anchors like Tien Hung Jewelry will continue to operate, the rest of the market will evolve through a multi-phase development. Phase 1 introduced us to ZARU. Phase 2 welcomes UniGirl and the refreshed Bánh Mì Boy. Future phases will bring a hidden Japanese whisky bar and over ten new micro eateries and shops.

Keep an eye out for pop-up events showcasing future Mills Market concepts, giving local chefs a platform to shine before they set up their brick-and-mortar locations.

“Mills Market is a legacy project with deep roots in Mills 50’s history. My wife grew up in this market, and my hope is that our kids will do the same,” shares Johnny. Each new concept is thoughtfully curated to create a harmonious and vibrant community hub.

UniGirl and Bánh Mì Boy will soon be open daily for dine-in, takeout, and delivery. Follow @UniGirlFl and @Banhmiboycafe on Instagram for all the latest updates. Get ready, Orlando, because Mills Market is about to become your new favorite hangout!
