For over 18 years, Dr. Kelly LaFave has provided compassionate, cutting-edge cancer care using a patient-focused approach. Dr. LaFave is a board certified radiation oncologist and proudly serves as the Medical Director of Florida Radiation Oncology. What sets her practice apart is that she utilizes the most advanced and precise radiation technology available while providing a personalized approach to the patient in a calming outpatient setting. As an independent center, she can work with all physicians throughout our community, and not just those affiliated with a particular hospital system. Treatments provided include stereotactic body radiotherapy, frameless cranial stereotactic radiosurgery, high dose rate brachytherapy, radiopharmaceuticals, intensity modulated radiation therapy, and optical surface monitoring image guided radiation therapy.

During her career, Dr. LaFave has conducted research, published in scientific journals, authored textbook chapters, and presented at national meetings. She has participated in numerous clinical trials and served in leadership roles on several hospital committees. Her particular clinical interests include breast, gynecological, lung, brain, skin, lymphomas, gastrointestinal, genitourinary including prostate, and head and neck cancers.

Dr. LaFave graduated with Honors from Michigan State University and obtained her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. There she was awarded the Research Presentation Award. She completed her radiation oncology residency at the University of Miami, where she was appointed the Chief Radiation Oncology Resident and was awarded the Clinical Service Award. Dr. LaFave was honored as “Women Who Move the City” by Orlando magazine.

Dr. LaFave is committed to keeping her patients well- informed about all of the innovative cancer treatment options available to them. In addition to providing excellent patient care, she also feels that it is important to serve the community. She has had the privilege to serve the community as a board member of the American Cancer Society. Currently, she serves as a volunteer faculty member the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. Most recently, she was elected to serve as President of Oncology Physicians of Florida. In these roles she is able to not only serve her patients, but also to provide leadership in the medical community.
