Wedding Cakes: The Glass Knife Takes the Cake
From wedding cakes to delicious delectables, The Glass Knife is a one-stop bakery.
One of Central Florida’s best bakeries is now creating breathtaking and delicious wedding cakes. The one-and-only The Glass Knife is now taking up the wedding cake-making mantle that customers have been requesting for quite some time. For those who haven’t visited this posh spot in Winter Park, The Glass Knife pays homage to a bygone era of elegance and hospitality, emphasizing gracious service and beautiful creations. A collection of Depression-era glass knives amassed by the owner Steve Brown’s mother inspired the name. Even the recipes are based in family tradition. We sat down with Lance Koenig, Brand Manager at The Glass Knife for a deeper dive into their new Wedding Cake venture and the tasting experience process.
What Is a Tasting Experience?
A Tasting Experience should delight and inspire guests with some of Central Florida’s finest wedding cake creations and world-class service. It is the first step in creating a cake with The Glass Knife’s culinary team. In this experience, for up to two, guests will be introduced to the culinary team, taste three of the most popular flavor profiles, and discuss their dream cake’s vision.
Here are our Top Five Takeaways for Couples
1. Getting Started
Begin by requesting a tasting experience at The Glass Knife. For up to two guests, this tasting is a $75 non-refundable fee that can be applied to a signed agreement. Expert Tip: Before booking a tasting experience, guests must know: 1) The wedding date, 2) the guest count and 3) The contracted reception venue.

4. Setup
Tiered wedding cakes are very heavy and fragile, so the culinary team will deliver your cake on the day of your wedding and ensure that it is displayed safely and beautifully before the start of your reception.
5. The Price
For custom creations, their cakes serve a minimum of 50 guests with “Event-style” servings (which are 5” x 2” x 1”) and range from $8.00 to $12.00 per guest serving. The cake designs and sizes are unique from start to finish; the flavor profile, design/finishes, and projected costs will be shared following the tasting experience.
