The holiday season is a time of honoring traditions, and Orlando Shakes has one that Central Floridians love: the troupe’s elaborate production of “A Christmas Carol.”
This year’s performance is grander than ever, according to Artistic Director Jim Helsinger. “We have a larger cast, an updated set with many more special effects and lots of fog,” he says of their take on the Charles Dickens tale of a miser’s Christmas Eve redemption.
During intermission, audience members are invited to step into the lobby for a visit to a winter wonderland with Christmas trees and wintergreen, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, and hot cocoa.
“It’ll be kind of like coming to a play, a musical, a Christmas church service, and a comedy all together in one night,” Helsinger says.
