Disney Springs Flavors of Florida
The annual celebration of Sunshine State cuisine is happening now!
Close your eyes and imagine touring Florida on a gastronomic expedition. From the Panhandle to the Keys, what awaits is a celebration of flavors both tropical and verdant.
Now consider this tour occurring all in one place, for a limited time. If your mouth waters and your pulse quickens at the thought, the folks at Disney Springs have a surprise for you, and it’s happening now.
Disney Springs Flavors of Florida is a 44-day fete, from July 1 to Aug. 13, of all that makes Florida cuisine unique. From cocktails to dinners to sweets, all are infused with the iconic ingredients that say you are most definitely in Florida.
Now in its fourth year, this summer event pairs a culinary series featuring top chefs and restaurant owners with special dishes, desserts and libations offered at 34 participating restaurants and food service locations throughout Disney Springs.
The cooking demonstrations are taking place at Waterview Stage, between The Boathouse and Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, and feature the talent behind some of Disney Springs’ most popular establishments.
Guests may register for one or more of the demonstrations by visiting disneysprings.com/culinaryseries.
The lineup:
July 7: Wine Bar George—A Restaurant & Bar
July 14: The Polite Pig
July 21: Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’
July 28: Gideon’s Bakehouse
Aug. 4: Disney Springs Culinary
So what makes a cuisine Floridian? You can start with tropical fruit, add in its long history of Spanish influence and lean heavily on its role as an agricultural powerhouse and home to Southern comfort food.
Key ingredients found among the special Flavors of Florida menus include lime, orange, mango, watermelon and strawberry. We’re not done. Note, too, the honey, shrimp, mahi mahi, tomato, avocado and more.
These homegrown flavors are the stars right now and a good reason for residents and visitors alike to visit the shopping, dining and entertainment complex. It’s a mellow way to enjoy a day at Disney while getting your fill of Florida sunshine.
